MARKET-BASED STRATEGY COULD AMP UP OCEAN CONSERVATION
Scientists are suggesting a market-based approach for increasing seaside and island nations' participation in preservation initiatives.
In the first days of 2020, the Pacific Sea archipelago country of Palau took the memorable step of protecting 80%—500,000 settle kilometers (193,051 settle miles)—of its special financial area (EEZ) from angling.

The scientists took their hint from the Celebrations to the Nauru Contract (PNA), a coalition of 9 Pacific Island countries that collaboratively manage 25% of the world's tuna within their waters. Palau is among the participant nations, as is Kiribati, which in 2015 produced the Phoenix az Islands Protected Location (PIPA), among the world's biggest aquatic protected locations.
